12 Hours Slow Cooked Bone Broth

I have been consuming bone broth slow cooked for at least 8 hours, daily for a while now. Being Cantonese, I have always drank homemade soup as my Mummy boils healthy soup  almost everyday since young.

 

Having this skin allergies and eczema, I have upped my game in drinking soup and my Mummy now makes soup which are boiled longer in the slow cooker. Slow cooking and boiling bones for long hours extracts the nutrients from the bones, making the soup even better for the body. It contains a lot of collagen.

 

I have been drinking fish bones for the past few months, yesterday my Mummy boiled a fresh batch of pig bones broth instead and it was boiled for 12 hours. Boiled for so long, even the cartilages could be easily eaten like chewy jelly. The fish bones broth have been doing wonders in terms of healing my skin and make it more elastic. Previously it was so dried out that I always joked it resembled a 100-year old’s skin. Having eczema makes us look like we have wrinkly skin.

 

My bones broth contains no salt, no sugar, no colouring, no artificial flavouring and no preservatives. It’s all natural. My golden liquid of goodness. I noticed that fish bones broth is naturally sweet after boiling for long hours even without any flavouring added. As for pig bones broth, it gives out a stronger broth smell when boiling but when drank, it tastes bland. In terms of the health benefits towards my body when drinking the pig bones broth as compared to fish bones broth, I will need to observe and see.

 

I was removing the unwanted fats from the soup earlier on. The broth was left to cool overnight and some ants crawled in to the soup. Have to remove those too. I don’t fancy having any ants in my soup as they have crawled around other places and makes my food dirty. Having some unwanted pest problems like insects crawling at my place. Not cool.
