New Year’s Emcee/Games Session

At the beginning of this Year 2019, I was at Y Food Box at Gurney Drive to conduct an emcee/games session. Technically, I was there on New Year’s Eve (31 December 2018) and all the way until past 12 midnight so it’s considered the beginning of the year. 12am is when the fireworks go off right after the countdown and your brand new year begins on 1 January 2019, according to the Gregorian calendar. I wouldn’t recommend going to this place or any other place owned by this owner because the owner didn’t keep his promises to provide dinner when it was already stated in the agreement signed between us for me to blog about this venue. He also lacks empathy, lacks understanding, does not keep his words and is impolite in our interaction with his sexually suggestive advances towards me. It’s disgusting and he can sued for sexual harassment.

On this night, I was to do a blog post in this blog. My business has offered to provide emcee services for free which included a games session. It was considered a promotion I was running for my business, and since I’m not charging for this, it’s crucial to have understanding and co-operative people to work together to achieve a win-win situation. Prior to this, I have already blogged for free for this venue once and also posted up in social media about this venue more than once. The owner of this venue is aware that I’m not very well and he could see that I had skin allergies. Yet, he has no empathy and wasn’t co-operative because I was doing all the work to get the games session ready, from the planning of the games to the prize, the props, the promotional advertisements online as well as getting participants. The props were jelly in gold ingots and shot glasses which the participants and also the owner get to try for free that night. The gold ingots were stolen that night and I managed to find back the shot glasses. How despicable some people are that they even want to steal props. The prize was a mini table sponsored by Myle Enterprise where there are other of this type available for purchase in their online shop. I told the owner of that venue that it would be better for me to order my meal first before I get to the venue, since I’ve already been to the restaurant and know the menu, so that I can straight away set up the games session. He said we’ll order when we get there. When I got there, he didn’t ask the waiter to take my order and I went to the stage area to set up. One thing leading to another, I started placing everything in order including running the live session and next thing, the game started. By the time it ended, it was already 12am. When I asked where’s my meal, the owner said the kitchen already closed and there’s nothing to eat. He didn’t take any steps to rectify this problem and was even arguing with me saying “you’re too poor to even buy your food”. In the first place, he is too poor to even provide food that he himself agreed to include as part of the blogging and he’s so poor he can’t even get his waiters in his own restaurant to cook the meal even when his workers are staying in that same venue. He’s so poor he can’t keep his words of giving something he promised to do. He’s so poor he didn’t even compensate for the stolen props that his staff cleared up and gone missing after that, so it could be stolen as it wasn’t found in the clearing area. He’s so poor he can’t even pay for the prize of the games. Some people lack the self reflection but is so quick to call others out, judge and blame others.

So, this was what happened during the games session, which was recorded live on Facebook.

For those who were there are the restaurant dining and those who came to see the games, I hope you enjoyed the emcee/games session. Thank you to those for participating and to Y Food Box for being the venue for, and for being a part of Myle Enterprise‘s PME December 2018 Giveaway event which was what the event/games session was about. I would like to say thank you to Y Food Box for this blog post too.

From New Year’s Day to Chinese New Year (CNY) day today, I’m sure many are having their CNY dinner now. Wishing you a Happy Chinese New Year. If you’re in Penang and looking for a place to eat or drink, you can check out Y Food Box at Gurney Drive. If you’re coming to Penang to visit your family, relatives, friends or for a holiday especially during this CNY season which lasts 15 days, you can visit their restaurant which I will leave their information below. They serve Chinese cuisine, mainly home-cooked style so it’s pretty healthy and delicious. I would advise you to call them before you drop by their restaurant to see if they are opened and to ask them more about their Chinese New Year menu, if they have any. They have other branches in Penang and around Malaysia too, which you can take a look at our previous blog post for more information. The information is true as of time of posting and I cannot be accountable if they’ve done any changes after that. Last I know, this venue was thriving after my blog post. Some time later, they were closed down. Well, I’m sure there are better venues with better owners who are empathetic and understanding which I would rather be providing my services to.
